I have a GR1 film camera that had its ribbon cable replaced at a repair shop. I bought it secondhand, and after using it for a while, I discovered a problem.
Occasionally, when I press the power button, the lens won't pop out. When I reinstall the battery, the mechanism makes three quiet "clicking" noises.
I don't know the cause of the problem, but there's a workaround: remove the bottom case and slightly rotate the pulley to extend the lens slightly. Then, reinstall the battery, and it should function normally.
However, this occasional problem is annoying. I'd like to fix it permanently. Does anyone know the root cause of this problem?
