I've had my Analyser Pro for 9 months now and love it. But one of the things I've had problems with is calibrationing it to different papers. The other day I noticed that RH Designs have produced a "calibration kit" for the analyser so I quickly ordered one. It's GBP 12.50 if you print off the manual from the website. Two days later the "kit" turned up in the post. It doesn't look much, consisting of two very small pieces of photographic paper (15mm x 30mm). Each has two patches on it, one base white and light grey, the other has two patches of true black and very dark grey. There's also a single negative of a grey scale/ step wedge.
I won't give full instructions on how to use the kit as it's easy to read the pdf on RH Designs website. Suffice it to say that I found the calibration much easier as I could now compare my test strips with the two patches to see what the correct tone should be.
If you're having trouble calibrating your Analyser Pro then it's probably worthwhile ordering the kit. Apparently, it's now included with new Analyser Pro's and ZoneMasters
One final thing, I was surprised to see that the negative I got was Agfa APX25
. There's no way I'd use any APX25 that I had left in the freezer just to produce a step wedge!
Cheers
