I finally had a chance today to do some printing on the Revere Platinum. I bought 20 sheets of each weight from B&S a few weeks ago, and I jumped in to do some tests today. This is all fresh chemistry (including the developer). Bottom line:
I am seeing some odd irregularities in the dark tones on the heavy Revere. I printed the same exact negative on a piece of COT320 and scanned both prints. You can see the streaks running diagonally from upper left to lower right on the Revere Platinum here (I have put some red lines and arrows so you can see what I am talking about:
A closeup scan of the same area of the print on COT320 here:
The irregularities on the Revere are small but noticeable. I wouldn't let this print out the door.
My coating procedure for both was to coat using a Richeson synthetic fiber brush and air dry under a cool fan to an ambient humidity of 32%. A test strip determined that I needed to increase the exposure on the Revere from 255 units to 300 units on my Amergraph ULF28. They were both developed in fresh potassium oxalate at 120 degrees. Both papers have been sitting out and getting acclimated for a week to my darkroom conditions.
I did not notice the irregularities during the coating process that others are reporting, but the final print does exhibit some unevenness. It might not be noticeable in a busy image, but any large continuous expanses of tone such as the sky seem to show this pattern. Also, the Dmax I got for both papers was identical: 1.4.
I think this paper has a lot of promise if we can get these apparent sizing irregularities ironed out.
