Reuse this storage bottle?

I have started to batch develop as opposed to my usual 1 or 2 rolls at a time. Yesterday I mixed up a 1/2 gal of Rodinal in a "Datatainer" plastic jug. I rinsed it well at the end of the day.
Can I reuse this container to make up a batch of HC-110? Keeping in mind the Rodinal was mixed/stored for approx.10 hours and the jug was throughly cleaned.

Yes of course you can reuse it, if you've cleaned it well. The only potential problem would have been if you'd used it for fixer.

If you want to be absolutely sure that the container is ready for storage then, after washing it, you might rinse it wit some of the product you want to store in it, so it will be 'prepared' for use.
This is why I always keep some used developer and fixer (or stop-bath) at hand, it's simple and cheap.

Dear Philippe,

I think -- and I am only half-remembering this -- that oxidation is autocatalytic (oxidation products speed further oxidation), so rinsing with used/oxidized developer will speed oxidation of fresh. As I say, I'm not sure, and it may not be for all developers. Even if it does happen, I don;t know how important it is. I throw this in because someone with more knowledge than I may be able to confirm or refute it. Certes, I'd prefer a water wash to a developer wash.

Oxidation of a single developing agent in solution may very well be auto catalytic. However, a well formulated developer solution contains enough preservative and possibly other "catalyst poison" to prevent that, and I don't see an issue with plain water wash.

If the bottle's inner surface retains significant amount of chemicals, that bottle is no good to begin with, and I'd avoid that bottle regardless of water wash or developer wash...

Do not worry, I soon realised that once I got my diploma I knew nothing and the 4 years were a waste of time.
I did this 'trick' for about 33 years before hearing about this!

I've had a tank loaded days ahead of processing.
With one-shot chemistry I think it a good idea;
load then prepare the chemistry. Dan
