Hey everyone, I used to be a regular visitor to APUG many years ago. I shot the Rollei 6000 system (6001 Pro, 6003, 6008) and Nikons professionally in the late-80s through early-2000s, and also always kept several Pentax K/M cameras since I'd cut my teeth on them as a kid. But then I moved entirely to DSLRs and didn't visit APUG for a long time.

Recently, though, I've gotten back into some film shooting (I'm now working my way through a big bag of some 70+ rolls of film that I froze in 2003!), so I went looking for APUG earlier today - and ended up here. I'm shooting Mirrorless, digital rangefinders, and 135 today, so I'm glad to have found the current site! Cool to see some familiar names - I hope to get active again going forward.

Cheers!

I remember reading your posts from long long ago, Mark. Glad you're back. I was away for a long time too. It would be fun if all of us oldsters came back to give the kids the benefit of our years of experience.

Good to hear from you Mark. Are certain kinds of subject matter that you prefer to shoot?

Good to see other people returning.

While I am probably unrememberable, I have recently returned to Photrio as well. I kind of got a bit disillusioned with the community (sorry, but I thought there were way too many grumpy old men). Did the whole facebook think, only to realise that it was hard to actually have conversations about photography - too much Look at me (which we are all guilty of).

So, about a month ago, I logged back in and here we are.

So, as well, welcome back Mark

It might not be scary for some, but its scary for me..... I can see a 5 and a 0 just around the corner. I'm not that hip edgy GenXr any more.

Same for me! It's coming a lot sooner than I'm prepared for.

"grumpy" and "old" are those fun adjectives which should be applied to personalities, not chronological age. I've met 30-year-old grumpy old people here. What you are really talking about is the incivility that comes with virtually anonymous internet forums.

p.s.
I'm 61 years of age but neither old nor grumpy.

The big 50 is nothing like you image it to be. It is much much worse than you can conceive.

I was OK with 40. But 50, I don't know.... I can't really remember when my father turned 40 but I do remember when he turned 50. To me, he was old.

Anyhow, still got just over 12 months to go.

I think we are getting off track. Sorry Mark! I think we hijacked your thread

Welcome back Mark.
And to hoffy and mooseontheloose, just think of 50 in roman numeral terms - V is, after all, for Victory! L is for longevity.
