Well, I still had two 35 mm cassettes of SFX in the fridge and was guarding them jealously, thinking these would be the last ever. Even if the return of SFX isn't 100% certain yet, I feel more relaxed now about using/wasting them on the first possible IR opportunity that comes along. If only Kodak and Polaroid were so informative and customer oriented.....

Thank you Simon,

I have one roll left and am glad it's back in 120mm. Thanks for your hard work and all at Ilford.

Regards Daniel

+1. One roll of 120 left, and for some reason, whenever I went to open it,
mild paralysis set in ....Thanks, Simon.

Thank you, I will definately buy some when it appears on the shelf at my local camera store!
On another Ilford topic, there was some buzz about a 25 speed Delta some months ago, is this something that you are working on? 35mm and 120 would be awesome!

The Delta 25 has been discussed and replied to in (there was a url link here which no longer exists), seems we'll be waiting a little longer for confirmation, but it's viability is apparently expected to be reviewed around mid February. They're busy little beavers

Great news Simon

Always wanted to shoot it in 120 but it was discontinued and I could not find a source. Can't wait! Thanks for all the hard work you and the people that work at Ilford do!

"By the way Eric is right it would be awesome in 4x5!"

Add me to the list of "Those waiting for SFX in 120". I'm "tenederly" guarding my last hoard of Konica IR ... TOO tenderly. I've been reviewing the IR images in my "Inspiration" file - and this Muse that hovers nearby is kicking the squat out of the back of my head.

Come on, SFX!!!

Wow! Simon, that is great news, 35mm *and* 120, that's beyond expectation... Now I don't need to think twice about using the last few rolls of 120 that I still have in the fridge.

No need to buy it in the Netherlands. Just order from Morco, Silverprint or Firstcall Photographic (among others) in the UK. No problem.

...or Foto Mayr or any of the others in Germany. About 2 months ago, though, I ordered my Ilford films at Konijnenberg (NL), cheapest at that time.

Rock On Ilford!

Have not been to APUG in a while. But Simon's post is the reason this is my ONLY trusted source for Analog photo news. SFX is a great emulsion, and you can count on me to buy a brick of each 35 and 120. I'll also be teaching an infrared photo workshop this summer at a community college, so SFX is going on my syllabus as a requirement. I do hope the SFX filter will be available as well in polyester so we can cut it to fit behind the shutter of 35mm SLR cameras.

Was it my imagination, or did I see Santa wearing a black and white suit with "Ilford Harman" stenciled on the back this year??

Good wishes to all.

one more product request...

Actually, I checked the Product Availability List of Ilford Harman, and there's still one item lacking: the "I love Ilford" bumper sticker. I would certainly buy one! (How 'bout it, Simon? )

One of my local photography stores proudly offers "Ilford Darkroom" signs to hang on your darkroom door, I'm not sure if Ilford were responsible for them but they seem to evaporate rather quick, sitting next to their chemical shelf.

Simon - will you be asking the likes of the varuious photography magazines to run test features on this film? I don't mean just Black and White photography, but publication like Amateur Photographer, Outdoor Photography etc etc.

This can only help to cultivate more interest in traditional photography - sometimes I feel people switch to digital because they fell they "ought to" as some kind on natural step rather than for any really substantive reasons. They just assume it is something they should do.

Next year looks like there will be the reintroduction of Velvia 50 - so it would be nice to see the reintroduction of a film from Ilford. This will have a very positive impact on the image of traditional photography.

Simon,

Good news and I want to try this film out. I am slowly migrating to Ilford products and this gives me another reason to support Ilford.

Great news ! Seeing some prints from SFX that a friend made helped me to return to my love of b&w photography. Now I'm building my darkroom, and I'll actually get to use this great film that he raved about !
Thanks for making it available in 35 and 120. Hopefully Freestyle and others will stock up on it when you release it.
Thanks Simon and Ilford!

Dear All, First, thanks for all the positive feedback : In answer to some of your questions 1) Yes it will be sent to the trade press for testing :
2) The filter is the COKIN P series mounted gelatin filter 9cm x 8.5cm filter diameter 7.4cm 3) 220 of any ILFORD Film will not be manufactured again, I gave a very detailed reply some time ago as to the the reasons. 4) No sheet film derivitive of SFX will be made, it would require a different base, therefore the addtional R&D, waste, and cost of stock holding parent rolls against the projected demand means that it would never be viable.

Kind Regards

Hi Simon,

Thanks for explaining why - it was worth asking anyway. Looking forward to seeing it back on the shelves.

All the best

fantastic news-WTG!! :D   Shame about sheet sizes and 220 but it's a good excuse to get that 6x12 or 6x17 back.
