Looks good (Firefox 3). A few observations; nothing major ...

"Next page ->" links in the product listings are only at the bottom of the page and there is no way to get to a page quickly. E.g. if I want to buy some Tween from the raw chemicals section I have to move a page at a time to the 5th page and I have to scroll down to the bottom of each page to do so. As most listings are on only one or two pages, moving a page at a time is not a problem, but having to scroll down to the bottom of each page to reach the "Next Page ->" link each time is a bit...

Error in first item in "Kaiser Equipment - Wet side"

"698 Prints Tongs S/S (Kaiser 4067)" - shouldn't this be for a pair?

Can be occasionally slow: 10 seconds or more but more commonly only one or two seconds. Does not appear to be related to a particular page display - more likely a database loading issue.

I look forward to my first purchasing from the new site (soon: I'm running out of some supplies!).

Good luck, Bob.

Should be sorted out within a day or two...it will present a sequence of the page numbers in that product listing so you can jump to the most likely page.

Adrian, I can't understand the Fotoimpex reluctance to ship to the UK. I have bought direct from Berlin in the past and still have a significant amount of film & paper left so am not in a hurry to re-order at the moment. Perhaps Mirko would like to comment about this.

Ian

I beleive MIrko explained his reasons on the Foto impex forum about 3 years ago. He cited a large number of lost packages and a long delay in getting compensation from Royal Mail. I wish they would ship overseas, their catalogue is an Aladdins cave.

Adrian, Mirko used DHL which is part of the German postal service for one o my parcels and it took less than 24hrs, they switched to another carrier and that was just as good.

I did have a problem with one parcel because someone at Fotoimpex missed out two line of my address so it was undeliverable. It was blamed on the carrier :D

Looks like we've merged the thread on Retro with some posts relevant solely to Martin's new Silverprint thread. Might be sensible to split the posts out.

My information must be out of date. It was some time ago I read about this. I will place an order and see what happens.

Hmm, I've used them quite a lot and never had problems. They're a touch cheaper than Silverprint on most things, but then stock doesn't quite overlap, so I tend to have to place orders with both... plus their shipping costs work on a sliding scale where Silverprint is on a flat rate - worth testing various combos on the sites to see which works out cheapest. Retro is the only place I can get Moersch chemistry though.

Still more Retro Photographic problems!

Anybody know what's going on with them? I've placed an order and haven't been able to get through to them in a week. The phone keeps going to the answering machine and there's no word about whether they've taken a holiday or not.

O.K...Its been a while since anyone has posted on this thread, and I was wondering if anyone has had any luck in purchasing any goods from them?. I have been trying to phone them since the beginning of the month, and each time I have been greeted with an answer phone with the usual message, promising to get back to me. I am not a fan of these machines and very rarely leave a message. Today I did. I didn't expect to get a return call, so was not disapointed when I didn't.

I do find this a very srange way to run a business. The web site is being updated with new goods, but what is the point if no one will answer the phone! Here we are in the middle of a recession and these people don't seem to want any money. What's more, their loss is also their suppliers loss, as once again I have been unsuccessful in purchasing Adox products!

Is anyone else still suffering in the hands of these shoddy suppliers.

Regards

Stoo

Having read this thread it was with some trepidation I used them about a month ago to order a Hewes stainless processing spiral, as they seemed about the only place in the UK to sell the things. (I've since discovered RK Photographic also sell them - £4 cheaper as well! Tch :rolleyes:smile:.

I placed the order late on a Sunday evening, and the parcel arrived the following Thursday. I may have just been lucky, or the other posters on this thread may have been unlucky, I wouldn't like to say.

I have to admit I suspect I'll carry on using my more usual suppliers in future rather than push my luck with Retro too much further though - I think the phrase could be "quit whilst I'm ahead" :D

They still owe me 5 rolls of FP4 from last October. I've given up and certainly won't be using them again.

Silverprint have a load on their website, and I've ordered a selection, which I'm hoping will arrive soon. If you don't mind having a minimum order quantity of £25, I'd suggest having a look

I never had any problems with Retro. I ordered some stuff recently and it came within 2 days. Nigel Dear is a nice man and has always been very helpful.

Retro are polite but poor on communication. I put in an order and had nothing thru for weeks. I emailed and eventually got a response telling me one item was on back order. I got it about 5 weeks after the order, which was not a problem but it would have been nice to have been told that the order had been delayed. Silveprint are the same, but will at least pick up the phone!

I order stuff from Silverprint over the phone and have never had a problem.

I always check to make sure they have it in stock before I order; sometimes they even walk to the shelf to check while I wait on the line, just to make sure.

I have always had better experience shopping over the phone than shopping on line - you get immediate feedback from the seller.

Its only the cost of a phone call and it can save loads of agro
