Does anyone have a 11C or 111C ? -- Chris Sherlock replied to my query about eyepiece diopters for a Retina with the news that Retina did make them for at least the 11C and 111C models, although he's never seen one. Are the eyepieces threaded so maybe the diopter is an add on or does the eyepiece unscrew? Any info would be helpful.

Nope, not threaded and I can't imagine how one would mount. If the eyepiece can unscrew I've never used enough leverage to make one unscrew. I have never seen nor heard of diopters for Retina... and I've paid attention to Retina's and their accessories from that era. But Chris S. is the expert.

Is it possible that the eyepiece unscrews (like my canon 7) and that the diopter was mounted in a eyepiece frame?

It's possible but I'll let you put a wrench on yours... I'll continue putting a rubber o-ring on mine so it doesn't scratch my eye glasses.

Since I've never seen a diopter for Retina this is just worthless speculation, but if one existed I suppose it maybe could have fit over the eyepiece. But that's just idle speculation.

Which model Retina do you have and how does it work with eyeglasses -- can you see the full frame? Most of my cameras need diopters for me to see the full frame. I want to get a Retina or some folder and want to be sure I will be ok with the viewfinder. Thanks!!

IIIc. Works great. I can see enough to consider it close enough to full frame.

As far as I have experienced, all rangefinders are rather "squinty" anyway. I can deal with it but have a strong preference for SLRs for ease of use.

Page 38 of the iic manual states for spectacle wearers there is a +/- dioptres correction lens that had to be specially orderd that screws into the finder eyepiece mount.

So if I understand that means the eyepiece unscrews -- so theoretically one should be able to replace the lens in the eyepiece with a diopter? Is that correct?

With respect to the manual for the IIIC (which states that it covers the IIIc as well, with certain modifications), there appears to be no reference therein to correction lenses.

I should have been clearer -- what Chris told me is - "This reference to eyesight correction only seems to appear in instruction books printed in Germany, which suggests to me the Eastman Kodak did not import the correction lenses, and so was careful to make no mention of them in instruction books printed in the USA." Quite a mystery....

Just states "This lens simply screws into the eye piece mount" special order. I get the impression the customer had to order it either through the dealer or factory direct..... It also states that the standard viewfinder is designed to permit easy viewing for the spectacle wearer of the whole viewing image, the optional screw in lens it seems is intended for those that don't wish to wear their spectacles.

I don't wear glasses so pheraps that's a given.
