Same goes here! Although I still have a dwindling supply of MCC, I'd be happy to test the new product. I still have not found anything that I like better.

I'm glad there is a possibility of seeing the return of Agfa products. I've been using their stuff, expecially their MCP and APX film. I'm almost out of the paper but I have 15 bulk rolks of their APX 100 film in the freezer. I can wait a while for APX's return, if it ever happens, but I would like to see it back.

Oh...alright...I'll be a good sport and volunteer to get some free stuff too. It's not to great a personal sacrifice to make for the future of wetography.

Having MCC on the market again would be fantastic. I still cling to my last few boxes and use sparingly. It's long been my favorite paper for hand coloring, and in more recent years for bromoils - it was a major blow when it was discontinued!

Waiting with baited breath....

I think Agfa Classic has been my overall favourite of all papers. It would be wonderful if it was to appear again.

MCC/MCP paper testing

thank you all for the positive feedback.

We just decided to increase the test run to 5000 meters for each type

The first 100 applicants will receive an envelope containing 5 sheets of each RC and fibre paper free of any charge.

After this we still give away the paper for free as long as supply lasts but we would ask for the postage.

I already received seceral PM´s and those people are on the list.

The paper project started last year in late fall and we underwent several stages up to now where we are preparing a first "roll to roll" coating.

The film samples which I expect in the fall of this year, will be of an earlier stage and not ment to be sent out. They are for our own review. Depending on how they come out we will shedule a first test run "roll to roll" for early 2008.

I will keep you posted on the progress.

According to my reading of the German sources, they are planning to release APX in 35mm, 120, and sheet film (sizes unspecified) sometime in Autumn, 2008, and they may follow up with the 25 speed film. Apparently, they already have on hand some supplies of partially finished materials in storage since the Agfa bankruptcy began, and are preparing to complete the fabrication. It's great news, since I will have run through my store of APX by then.

I'm confused. I understand the 100 and 400 speed films will come back, but I was told there is no possible way to bring back APX 25. Even Agfa said this. Mirko- can you confirm that APX 25 is also on the list?

Braxus, I remember APX 25 was discontinued because of the expensiveness of its production, and because of the hard way of coating. I'm not sure, but in my opinion, the best way would be a production by another film maker, like ilford. It would be better for them to buy APX25 recipe, than making a new delta 25.

This really gives us a push after the months of hard work on MCC.
I will answer all emails over the next week.

As far as MCC/MCP is concerned I can CONFIRM that we are almost there.
I have samples in my hands and they have prooven good, scaling it to the next machine size is not a big obstacle anymore.

As far as films are concerned you need to understand that we have invested in a research project whos intention is to recreate films which will in the end show characteristics and parameters very comparable to those films formerly sold as APX.

I can´t say this in a different way and also this is pretty much what we are doing. We are using original equipment and process control.
In the fall I hopefully have some real film to test and then after this I can be more specific on this issue.

Until then all I can CONFIRM is: we want to do it and we are working on it.

If Agfa once said things like: "APX 25 can´t be made anymore" this should actually be read as: "APX 25 can´t be made anymore in a way it seems lucrative for us".
Ofcourse they could have made it again. They could make 14 layer coating and ultra high colour saturation colour films. They could have made anything if they wanted to including tabular grain high speed films. It is just a matter of comparing costs against expected return on investment and WANTING do go for it.

This basic law of economic applies to our venture the same way. But there is a "small" difference on the cost side and I think I don´t have to convince you that our will is there.

Hello Mirko,

I'm following this thread with interest and wish you good luck with your project. I would have subscribe to test the paper but since I don't have a darkroom here, I will let it go to someone who has the equipment. I keep my fingers crossed that once I have the equipment, I will be able to print with your papers.
