I understand the reasons, but I wish we still had the colour-coded tub lids....I haven't even got a full set left for my collection now ! (Mind you, when I think of the 100's of the various coloured Kodak tins which my Grandad, my Dad and later myself, must have thrown out over a total of maybe 60 years, and the price that they now fetch as collectors' items on Ebay......... )

Done

I noticed there was a bit of discussing about the box design after submitting.
IMO, Ilford has got one of the classiest box designs in the film industry. Slightly minimalistic, but does very good. I like them a lot.

I've seen the old black box design around for the net, and in HP5 the overstylized "Plus" doesn't look quite right to me. The current design... give a tip to the designer! The current plus with the "pixel" transition is quite nice, and curious... Digital age but timeless.

Tri-X could use a more classy box design. That shadowed "400TX" could use a small revamp.

C'est fait monsieur Simon
Thanks to Ilford for asking their customers advice !

Done.

In the section "other comments" I proposed to offer a "Photo paper sampler" with 3-5 sheets in e.g. 5"x7" of a variety of papers by Ilford (FB / RC, glossy / matte, cool / warm tone). Sometimes I would find it easier to try different options in small amounts before making a buying decision for a larger package. For instance, I've seen interesting samples with Ilford MGWT on the web, but trying a few sheets by myself would make me more comfortable to buy.

What do others think ?

Lars

Damn, that's a good idea, but I've already completed the survey.
I've used the Moab inkjet sampler a few times to try out different papers. I'd love to be able to try out cooltone/warmtone/art300 etc without having to invest in a huge box of each.

Simon, add another vote from me for this.

FIN,

Done.
And +1 on the print paper sampler, that's a great idea!

I'll add my +1 to the paper sampler as well; always nice to actually "feel" the paper and see how it looks with your own personal selected neg/s.

I remember Fotospeed producing a "swatch" book for retailers that let you see each of their papers and feel the weight, several years ago. It actually enticed me to purchase paper I probably wouldn't have otherwise even looked at, and from memory, they had a "swatch pack" at one stage too?

Thanks to all for doing the survey ( please keep them coming ) it is greatly appreciated, it is always interesting and thought provoking to hear your comments and idea's.

We really do love and adore the ILFORD brand, its history and its presentation...its look, and we work very hard to preserve it, and of course to promote it, in fact the 'brand' book ( our brand bible ) is about four inches thick, and its full of do's and dont's... so anyone wanting to make 'changes' to any part of it from packaging quality, colour, to design and the 'look' better be very, very cautious !.

As to a sample pack.....we have been here many times, our logic has always been to make small 25 sheet packets available of all our products, our Paper Marketing Team of old always said you needed 10 sheets to understand a product and a 100 to fall in Love !

I will revisit it, but it would require multiple bagging, a none standard box and assembling by hand, I will have it costed though but NO PROMISES.

I will do it, and it would be good to have at least some of the results published here - in the 'non-search' area if you will. Much as Ilford would benefit from the survey results, I'm APUG would do too, from it.

(this is probably the third time I have asked for it -even put it up on the survey as well, I think)

Dear Analoguey,

We have given feedback before on our surveys. Least we can do.
