Hi Guys and Girls,

I'm hoping someone can help, my wife bought me a Yashica GS as a present, but it's missing the battery door, so I don't know if it works, does anybody have a spare they could sell me? or know where I could find one?

I sure hope someone can help, as I'm at a loss.

Thanks!

Is this an Electro GS rangefinder? There is one for sale for parts on fleabag for twenty bucks. It might help if you posted a photo and told us the dimensions. I suspect -- and only suspect -- the battery door is the same on other cameras of that ilk and era. Somebody must have a similar camera with a similar door they could part out. I have learned to my sorrow that some folks want an arm and a leg for minor parts so I am in sympathy with you plight. Good luck.

I gather your GS is an Electro 35 GS.

Where are you located? (International postage can be pricey.)

The battery that originally fit these are no longer made. However there are current batteries that will work with a simple home made adapter.

To all who replied: Thanks so much for all your help and information!

Snapguy : yes, it's an electro gs rangefinder, I'll check out the listing and see what the deal is. Can't hurt
ambaker : yes, i'm in DE, so anything in the continental US shouldn't kill me shipping wise, Once I get the door, I'll find the newer battery and adaptor too.
Chris : Awesome! thanks for the link, I'll e-mail Mark and see if he can help. - however it seems I have more issues than just the missing battery door, the shutter seems to be stuck too. :-/

When I told my wife I was having some issues with it, she said "At least it looks pretty" so... if it's toast, I guess I gained a cool looking rangefinder ornament. - although I'm hoping it can be saved!

Once again, Thanks All

PM me your address, and I'll send you a battery cover.

I'm in Missouri, and did not want to find my self promising a battery cover that was going to cost more than the camera, to mail.

I've got a parts camera I can rob it from. If you need seals, or have the Pad Of Death issue, Jon Goodman sells kits to renew the seals and pad, if you are shy about cutting your own. Replacement is super easy.

No charge for the cover. Just let me know where to send it. Do a favor for someone else some day, and we are square.

The original mercury batteries are no longer available. However, the Electro 35 is not as voltage sensitive as some makes. There are several easy & cheap adapters that can be made for the 6 volt 4LR44 battery.

You are quite welcome. In the past I have received more than my fair share of help and pieces. I'm just glad I could help someone the way I have been in the past.
