It should work and likely even got an overkill, as I assume the TRA500 being AC/AC, and that switching device even is AC/DC.

I understand AC is alternating and DC is direct, you don't think this will be an issue. I was going to get the 15 amp to have a little extra, better safe than sorry as they say.
 
If the powers supply only feeds some incandescant lamps, AC or DC does not matter.
 
With halogen lamps the idea is to settle metal again on the filament. However this settlement is not evenly. Thus sooner or later the filament will be torn.
At first thought the eveness of current and thus of magnetic field at DC makes one expect that the strain on the filament is lesser.
Concerning settlement of metal though Osram state that with high-power 230V lamps at DC feed the longevity is drastically reduced. Well, who does so anyway?´
This effect in addition is lesser at higher wattage lamps.

With low voltage lamps this effect is even lesser.
And there still would be the chance to take out the rectifying stage at all.

Not knowing in detail the process indicated by Osram in which AC is benefitial in the tungsten resettling, the waveform of a switching power-device without rectifying and smoothening stage might be even disadvantageous... So this is a open case. Best to forget on this AC, DC thing at all.

Thanks for your input. All this technical stuff is above my head :smile: If I can not get an original PSU I think I will take a shot at the one on amazon.
 
Thinking about it car headlight bulbs are halogen and they seem to get on fine, they last years ?
 
In the automotive world halogen lamps of 12V and 24V at DC were standard. In the projector and enlarger world halogen lamps of up to 24V at AC were typical.

Many of the LPL enlargers use a 12V 100 watt EFP halogen bulbs. There are others that also use that bulb. It is also used in Eumig movie projectors.
 
Don't buy such an LED driver if you want to drive a Durst CLS500, 501 or M805 color head.
The bulb need several seconds to start and the fan won't work at all.

Lesson learned the hard way... :whistling:
