So I am looking to do some plate work, and my guide is "Silver Gelatin" by Reed & Jones.

The example they have that I like is done using SE1 emulsion. Sold here as Silverprint.

Or it was....

It appears, from what I can find, that the emuslion is now sold ONLY as a VC emulsion.

A new forumla which little stickers on the box proudly declare.

Crap. I was looking for a non-VC emulsion since I have no idea what a VC emulsion would do in a camera (not what I want it too I bet).

So I am thinking about switching to Maco Black Magic. But will the ASA stay the same? I want an ASA of around 1. Yes, I WANT that. Crazy, I know, but this is for portrait work and that long exposure time gives a unique look, as does the wide open lens and the blue-sensitive emulsion.

I am not adverse to using good old Liquid Light, but am concerned about ASA changes over time.

Any hints?
