Anyone know if Ilford warmtone developer is a liquid version of ID78 which is supposed to be exactly like Neutol WA? Else, anyone know if Neutol WA will be available either in Agfa or A&O form?

I'm very, very happy with the way Forte Polygrade and Agfa Neutol WA look. Beautiful rich, full-toned images. I'm willing to make the ID78 or any other formula that will give me the same results. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Based on preliminary reports, I doubt Ilford's developer is the same as Neutol WA. As for availability of A&O's version, see my post in this thread:

Ilford ID-78 and Agfa Neutol WA are both Phenidone/Hydroquinone formulations while the current Ilford Warmtone developer is not (according to the Ilford Warmtone MSDS).

I find that the Agfa Neutol WA image look is very similar to the look I obtain with Ilford ID-78 mixed from the formula given here:

I agree with Ian Grant that Ilford ID-78 is a more flexible developer than Agfa Neutol WA (ID-78 has a longer working life and if desired, the image tone can be adjusted by increasing or decreasing the amount of KBr).

Neutol WA is already available, at least in the U.K. from Silverprint, R.K.Photographic, and Process Supplies London Ltd. Hope this helps you.

John, are those bottles labeled "Agfaphoto?" I'm curious because it seems unlikely new stock from A&O has made it through the distribution pipeline yet. We haven't seen any of it here to date.

What about Tetenal's Centrabrom ? Would that be an equivalent ? I don't know the formulae of the two developers, I was just wondering if there would be some common points between them...
