I think it has to do with some of my reels being loose and not fitting tightly to the cores.
Correct me if I am wrong, but I think your processor rotates the entire tank. As the tank is only partly filled and on its side, the developer sits at the bottom, the tank rotates under it, and the reel filled with film is intended to be rotated through the developer.
If the reel is loose, it may not rotate with the tank, which may result in the film effectively staying close to stationary, with some of it in the developer, and some of it staying out in the air.
For some reason, the film must have spent more time in the fixer, because the images and edge printing is gone where the developer didn't do its work.

Hey guys,

Just a little update. I believe I have narrowed the error down to loose reels. I've been using some tighter fitting reels and haven't had the issue again. I'm hypothesizing that, like Matt said above, the tank/core was spinning while the reel was not spinning at the same rate of speed. A pretty odd issue, I know, but since I've been more cognizant of using tight reels, I've had no further issues.

Chalk this one up as solved (for now)!
