Repair.
If it is in an old Ilex dial set shutter (it looks like there is a little fellow with a moustache peering over the top of the lens) then have it re-shuttered.
I guess it's a Berlin made Goerz lens pre the Dagor name. You'd need to find a Compound or Dial set Compur shutter that it'll fit and they weren't stanadard back in the early days.
It was probably never sold in a shutter and repair would be more than the cost of buying another in good condition, unless you can DIY.
Rip the blades out and shoot it WFO, it may surprise you. I have an old lens thats so sharp it could cut butter, no aperture blades, gives dreamy shots that I enjoy to no end.
Thanks for the advice. I think I will start with asking my usual repair guy about the blades when he is back from his holiday and have them removed if I can't get them repaired.
I have done some business with SKGrimes and am very pleased with them. As stated above however the cost of sending the lens back and forth, a new shutter and work the price will be high.
I will start with a hat and some long exposures and think about adding a shutter later.
