I want to use sodium dithionite for second developer when doing reversal.
I might try to get it in pure form, but Iron Out is mentioned as a readily available source. I can't find Iron Out in Norway, but I find Remol (http://www.herdins.se/sv/ovrig-textilvard/remol__102) in the hardware store. It's for cleaning staines off textiles.
It contains:
Sodium dithionite 60-100%
Sodium carbonate 1-5%
Hexamine 0,1-0,5%
I tried it on a few pieces of unexposed Fomapan 100 classic film, but it seemed I had to use quite a lot to have an effect. (I know that Fomapan will probably have low dmax, anyway...) The part of the leader that had been exposed to light came out darker than the rest of the piece.
I will test some more, but first I want to ask if you think the 2 added chemicals may counteract the fogging action of the dithionite?
