I spent last few years to learn more about Rembrandt and Da Vinci, I could find only 40 or more papers about their techniques , ideas , analyses and much more.
My intention is to create a similar vision as old Leitz lenses created or Leitz binos shows.
My experience with 9 Leitz lenses at few candles light photography , shadow photography, etc makes me want to use these lenses now again but I have no finance today , I only have elmar 35 , vario elmar 35-70 and hektor 135 mm now.
Now , I learned mona lisa been finished in 40 years because the each of 40 layers of glazes took 1 year to dry.
That creates different lighting and viewing angle , you see different combinations of base layer and glazes on top layers.
Its similar to print on glass plates , same picture but different techniques , stack these layers and view at home. For each lighting conditions , you see different shadows ,grades , high frq. noise , low frq. noise , different resolutions etc.
I was reading a science article today and found rembrandt have a stereo vision problem and that forces him to draw 3d better. His left eye is 15 to 5 degrees out for each painting.
But he was talking about mirrors.
I was thinking to apply band pass photography to art and scenic photography and I was thinking to glaze eye glass lenses or create a afocal flat lens which have three dimensional optical transfer function,
And I found rembrandt could glaze his mirror to control resolution , contrast , colors , increase the temp. of few colors , intensify the candle light ,control the degrades , control the chaotic fractal nature of shadows etc.

Glazes are interesting , there are many glazed - unglazed oil painting comparisons at google and some works like sharpen or usm or contrast tool , some of others works like tinting , color boost and some softens and dull the paint. I can prepare an article if you want. But classics tells there were no bright colors at that time and there were not some colors. Glazes brightens colors , makes purple and give a light to paint.
I read rembrandt applied first vermillon colored glaze to paint and than wipes it. It sits in shadows and gives a better 3d.
