I just mixed up a gallon of D-76 working solution and split it up into 4 1-quart bottles. Does it benefit D-76 longevity to refrigerate the unused solution?

I don't think it matters. The stuff keeps practically forever anyway

Keeping it reasonably cool and at a reasonably constant temperature couldn't hurt.
But I doubt refrigerating it would help much.
A root cellar might be ideal.

Nope, do not refrigerate it! Drop its temperature bellow 7 degC and you will get precipitate at the bottom of the bottle. I did so, and shaking the dark brown bottle against light revealed white precipitate and hairline crystals that did not dissolve by shaking and slight heating.
Actually it is not recommended to keep any developer in the refrigerator. As Matt said, just keep it in a cool place.

Ooooooh. Thank you, all of you. I will remove it from the fridge. It's 90+ outside and the basement is 73. I just started building my darkroom and it's going to be film developing only at first.

keep it in your basement in a dark place and o not refrigerate it otherwise, some ingredients may fall out of solution and are very hard to back into it again.cool and dark is all you need for it to last several months. I keep mine air tight in 150ml olive glasses because I need 300ml for each development and mix it 1+1.
