Hello everyone, I recently developed a roll of film and for reasons beyond my understanding it was not properly fixed. This has never happened before with my tank and reel combination and the fixer is almost new. My guess is that I only put one reel into the 3 reel tank and that the reel must have ended up suspended above the fixer level and only the fixer that was hanging on to the film was fixing the film.

Anyway, I did not see this until I had already cut the negatives into strips of 5 (35mm film). What is the easiest way to refix and wash the strips. One at a time on the reel, refix, re hypo, wash for 10 minutes and hang and then repeat x 7 strips??

Thanks in advance.

Joaquin

If you can get the cut negatives on the reel as a group, why not do it that way? As they're developed, you can do whatever you choose to do in the light, so it should be easy.

I use stainless reels, and have not had good luck with getting short strips to stay in the reel, though a plastic reel may work better.
I had to go through this very exercise a few weeks ago, hence my suggestion of a print tray.

If the OP isn't doing wet printing, then any clean plastic container long enough for the strips of film will work, there are small food storage containers that would work well (just don't use it for sandwiches afterward).
