Well, no wonder you're keen to fix the thing up!

I am not certain about all Zeiss folders, but I know that on a couple that I have had, the pressure plate 'clips' in. Two flat springs, four 'feet.' There is a bracket on the back and the pressure plate slides in. Connect one side loosely, them lift plate and get other feet in place and slide down.

Try lifting the plate up and see what you can see.

Thanks for tip! I cut a slight part of red window out. When sliding door is in place back is light proof. With only 4.5 cm between winds, backing paper should be sufficient.
One looked down a hole with no red window to see first frame number for my Hassy 1000F backs, so backing paper should be sufficient. Shooting a role of 400film today, so I’ll soon find out. If it doesn’t, then will add new red window, as you suggested. The hole in pressure plate seems large enough to introduce a new window without removing plate. I’ll let you know how this turns out.
