I'm currently using Arches Platine and have also used Berger Cot320 - I'm looking for a smoother texture in a paper that doesn't require any preparation and has reasonable consistency.

Any suggestions? Thanks.

Platinotype if you can track down a good batch.

Clearprint Vellum 1000 or 1020. Only special treatment is dry mounting to a substrate of watercolor paper for additional strength. It can then be corner mounted as normal. The color of the underlying watercolor paper can warm or cool the print as desired. Vellum prints can also be waxed depending on the look your shooting for.

Tim,

I have had good results with Rising Stonehenge. It has been consistant and is a LOT cheaper than Cot320 and Platinotype. Others have suggested Lenox but I tried it and did not have success.

Dug:
is that the Rising 2 ply bristol plate finish? Where do you order from?

r u consider to use the platinum standard instead of na2?

I started off with platinum (actually 1/3 platinum and 2/3 palladium) The Na2 method gives me a smoother image, it's significantly less expensive and has pretty much the same tonality at pt.

I'll check out the Stonehenge, it's available locally, which is a very good thing.

I thought the Na2 was the same price per ml at Platinum solution. Maybe the cheaper cost is due to using less in the mix.

Na2 is the same price but you do use a lot less... a little goes a long way. I have B&S cut to 10% instead of 20% and use one drop per 12 of sensitizer and 12 of pd solution. I believe lots of folks use even less than that.
