A lively debate!

Anyhow I DID indeed overdevelop ....

I shot two more rolls of AP100 and developed it in Sprint 1:9 this morning ... negs came out great. Great, I think, my bottle of Adonal is bad or something, etc. Except when I start looking through my notes again, I discovered I used a longer time than I should have ... by about 4 minutes, LOL. So except for being embarrased, I'm relieved.

Except I haven't done any more developing with the Adonal just yet ... but I'm fairly confident it should be ok.

This is a lively debate though, and given the 3 groups listed above (ok, 4 really) I'm not sure where its going to except around in circles. I will add though ... if its Plus-X why not brand it as Arista Premium 125 ?

:D:wink::tongue:

Also thanks for all the help .. as you all know, you can't fix stupid but at least you tried!

I still laugh at the people who honestly can't believe Arista Premium 100 and 400 are Plus-X and Tri-X respectively. Everything down to the exact typeface used to rebate the film is the same. Every single thing except the sticker on the can is the same.

And the indicated film speed :tongue:

You'd have to ask Freestyle about that. Glad it all worked out for you. It often comes down to user error, certainly when I'm the user anyway! As to the films, if you talk to Freestyle they will tell you what they are, but they can't say officially. The truth will out someday. It's great stuff at a great price, no need to push it any farther.

Just wanted to add that I've recently shot some 100 @ 250 and developed in Acufine (Acu1 to be precise) and I was quite pleased with the results. Just did it as an experiment because I found some AC1 around, but it may be something I move towards.

It is fairly clear that the Arista Premium films are manufactured by Kodak. Which explains the simalr edge markings, the same packaging etc. It is quite posible that the actual film may or may not be the same as Plus-x and tri-x. {Plus-X reversal 7265 for example if slit as 35mm might come close to 100ASA as a negative film). Why Worry? The times for tri-x and plus-x are close starting points for this stuff, and the films are excellent value. The Legacy Pro seems to be based on master rolls that have been sitting in Fuji's Warehouse too Long. They are great freezer stuffers.

If you are a pro, who has to make the shot, buy the name brand and be sure.
