AGFA MULTICONTRAST FORMULA (prescription):

As from Leverkusen/Germany, is reported from reliable cycles, former AGFA engineers and chemists, works on the fact to already repair on the original AGFA MCC and MCP based photo paper in the year of 2007, in Europe. The big strategic partners, which are capable of this enormous financial force act, will be probably to be searched rather at financial strong enterprises of the producing industry, as with the small and middle photo trade. It is to be virtually excluded therefore, from up-to-date knowledge conditions, that only one partner can handle this force act, because.......million investments into the production, the adaption of the existing formulas on the, then new pouring plant, the procurement of raw materials, financing of the production to an extent of a couple million square meters, world-wide driving out structures, marketing abilities acting world-wide, a condition only by very strong partners, will have to be mastered.

The specialists in the photo scene therefore itself are united, that in the forums now vagabonding the announcements of an substantial production rather as a marketing bubble, to be regarded as a less than substantial statement.

I think Babblefish didn't quite make this understandable to me. Will Agfa be reintroduced or not?

This is good news I guess if they get it right. If not just another paper not to buy. Let us know if they go back to coating Brovira FB. Now that would be news.

Is there a decoder ring available to decyper this post??? :>)

Ok, I read the german text and try to sum it up:

1. Former AGFA engineers work on the introduction of papers based on the old MCP/MCC in 2007.
2. Therfor much money is needed which probably will come from several big companies outside the photo industry.
3. Insider judge, that the announcements made in several forae are some kind of "markting bubble".

Not sure, what this guy wants to say. Keep in mind, that he is quite close related to MACO, so this could be part of an "announcment war" going on between MACO and Fotoimpex.

Thanks Andreas - I would never have got that from the babblefish version!

Basically, several rumours rolled into one with no point whatsoever: just as I am coming to expect from Maco "announcements". Ho hum.

Cheers, Bob.

Russian testing of the strength of materials with a hydraulic ram went through computer translation and came out as "wet male sheep".

Translations aside, I for one hope that the reintroduced Agfa paper is near in quality as current batch I have.

Chuckle outside-doors voluminously with great thorkus for great laugh'n tittery! This actual most comedic item myself has reading inside aeons.

anyone remember Stanley Unwin? Deep Joy!

It makes perfect sense if back-translated literally to German, and then translated to Norwegian...

Some call it heavenly in its briiliance. Others, mean and rueful of the western dream.

Not sure about holding my breath but I need to suspend my belief in business economics.

Agfa couldn't make it pay and it will cost a great deal now to restart things. However despite the less than rosy future for paper manufacture, there may be outside businesses willing to finance this, despite presumably having other investments available for their money.

So a whole range of investments have been considered and re-starting Agfa came our on top?

I wonder how they'd get on in the Dragon's Den. For non UK tv viewers this is where entrepreneurs looking for investment have about 5 minutes to convince a trio of hardheaded business people to invest in their idea.

MCC111 was a beautiful paper and I'd be happy to buy it if it ever became available again, providing the whole pakage (base, emulsion/coating) was the same quality as the AGFA product.

I'd buy it. I always thought their MC Classic fiber was just about one of the best papers around.

Do you have a link to the German text?

Rest assured and plan accordingly (it's nice to see former IRS code drafters have found work in the private sector...).:D

Rest assured, if they make the same paper as before, I promise to stop vagabonding on the forums.

Kodak out, Agfa in! If they do I hope they make trillions. Here that Kodak?

Hmm well, actually even the German version forced us to do some heavy headscratching to find out what Hartmuth wants to tell us.

My personal interpretation is this:

- scientists are working on the redevelopment of MCC
- investment is huge and thus Fotoimpex will be out of the game because financially more powerfull distributors are needed to back this up
- or maybe not....but at least there will be more than one distributor
- the announcement made by maco that the paper will be back on the shelves in march can be best described as a marketing bubble

Keeping in mind that this announcemend is made by a guy payed by maco (according to my informations at least) I sort of wonder what is going on here. Maybe he switched sides ?

Anyways. I am sorry to say that I can´t make any real usefull announcement today as there are no real news about the paper project available.

Tests are continuing and as other knowledgeable people on this forum have pointed out besides me: it takes time and we are far from beeing able to say we´re there yet.

Whoever will be involved in distribution is not really the topic of today, I think.
Let´s make the paper first.

Regards to all,

Mirko

Yes, the announcement seems to be directed against you. That is my interpretation also. However, if they had the millions that they are talking about, they could have saved the Agfa coating facility from demolition, which has begun this Monday.

I am disgusted.

This coating facility is not capable of making money, no matter who backs it. It is probably way too large and complex to make a small volume of paper.

The idea that coating facilities need to be capable of doing smaller runs of a greater number of products is a compelling one.

I know how large it is, I have seen it. I did not mean to say they should use it for a small run of b/w paper.

Something weird is going on here.
