Improper washing?

Occasionally I get prints that stick together when I go through a stack. Of course pulling these apart usually means the bottom print is going to be damaged.

These are prints that have long been dry, even when I stacked them, and stored in a museum case.

Either there was a drop of water remaining on the back- a pretty common occurrence- or someone had wet fingers handling the prints.

That person was probably me. Sigh, we're always to blame somehow, aren't we?

Thanks Gary.

Or, they were stored in a high humidity environment. Don't just pull them apart, knowing damage will occur. Soak them for a while and they'll probably come apart with no damage.

Semi-humid. They probably just got a drop when I took them off the line with damp hands. They're work/whatever prints, so I wasn't too bummed.

This is why I put them in archival sleeves after drying. They're cheap enough I just don't see it being worth the risk. If I don't plan on framing them right away the sleeves do a great job of protecting them plus it makes them easy to put into a binder giving them even more protection.
