I purchased a box of Ilford MGRC the other day. Looking forward to try it and see if it any different to the previous version that I never got along with.

Have you tried the Fomaspeed Variant papers?

Yes I have, but all of them silvered out, framed and unframed.

Strange, mine are more than a decade old and they're still fine. I didn't do anything special, just regular processing and washing, not excessive.

When was the last time you checked them for any silvering? Look carefully at an angle against a light source, you might be surprised (or not, I'm not provoking or anything, just sharing my experience).

I just did. I didn't spot anything unusual, they do look fine. 🧐

Looking at my prints I can only confirm my observations, Ilford RC prints, even those I made in the 90s, are still pristine. Not long ago I purchased another box of Fomaspeed Variant that I'm going to use for contact printing mostly. I have a bottle of Adox Adostab that should mitigate these problems, but reading some of the past threads here, can also cause additional problems: https://www.photrio.com/forum/threads/sistan-ag-stab-destroyed-most-of-my-portfolio.118908/

Oh, yes, I remember this thread... I didn't use anything like that for my prints. I just processed them carefully, making sure they were fully fixed and washed. I was using Ilford rapid fixer back then, at the standard paper dilution. The only case I had of problematic prints was when I used an overused fixer at a public darkroom. These took a light yellow - orange tint the next day.
