When I wind on after cocking the shutter sometimes the frame counter will skip past the number and stop between two frames, with the advance level stuck out as far as it can go. I overcome I have to press the winder release button and wind onto the next frame with the multi exposure setting, skipping a frame to compensate. It seems to happen every 3 shots.

This is a new camera to me (present from an old friend) and I'm a bit baffled after ruining some shots on two rolls.

So I made a dummy roll with some backing tape and a spool and after 3 dry runs I have finally got through the entire roll without a jam. I was very careful...now to see if it will work with regular force.

Still occasionally jams even with gentle winding. The mirror also sometimes sticks up after cocking and I have to 'release' it with a gentle nudge. So much for Exc+++ condition.

Royal bummer! I guess it's time for some negotiating with the guy/company who sold it to you ...

Many people believe that if a device contains no electronics it will last forever. I made that unfortunate assumption several years ago and had a Nikon F3 die from mechanical failure twice in 5 years

Hi Krzys - I used to repair RB's - sounds like it needs a service to me. The back sounds like an easy fix - could be a loose wind deck, or a bit of gunk. As for the mirror sticking I'm guessing the foam on the mirror buffer has urned to gunk - it is under the focussing screen, but I'm guessing part of it will be on the mirror - clean them both off and you should stop the mirror sticking. Send me a PM if you ahve any questions.

Andrew is correct. Sounds like the back needs service. The problem can be the signal arm adjustment or perhaps in the film counter mechanism.

Anyway seals n routine service on your entire camea is relatively cheap and should be done every few year, considering you have an expensive professioanl camera once coasting thousands of dollars. Because you got it dirt cheap doens't make that Farrari a junker, it still needs a tune up n oil change to run like a Farrari.
