Sold RB67 Pro S w/Case, 4 lenses, 3 Finders, 2 Backs, handle, dual-cable release

I hate to let this go, especially after you folks helped me get it fixed, but it just doesn't make sense to take it with me when I move. Too big, too heavy, too difficult since I don't do my own developing... So, here it is, my complete RB67 kit, with all the lovely components you see pictured. All components work. All lenses are clear with undamaged glass, though some paint may be worn off. The eyecup on the eye-level prism finder is wonky (don't let the technical jargon throw you. You can see it in the first photo), I think because of how the first owner stored it. I poked a hole in the leatherette in an attempt to unlock a 'stuck' lens, as instructed by some of you nice folks. It's not a big deal, but there are always nitpickers.

I don't really know how to price this, so I'm thinking of doing an auction-style sale, if that's ok here. (I saw a sticky post that said yes. That doesn't mean there isn't a newer post somewhere that says no.) I saw someone asking just under $2k online for a similar kit, but I don't anticipate it going that high. I'm going to start it off with a minimum opening bid of $600 and we'll see what happens. If the high bid is under $1200, shipping is on you, and will probably run close to $100. Over that, I'll pay for shipping (continental US only).

You can post your bids here, if you want to intimidate your competitors or PM them to me if you want to be a silent bidder. I will post any PM'd bid amounts, but without names, so people can keep track.

I forgot to photograph the outside of the case, but it's the original Mamiya aluminum case. It shows wear, but nothing major. And I have a backpack that I bought specifically for this outfit that holds all of this gear and weighs a lot less than the aluminum case, if you're the mobile type, like me. It's not a super-high quality backpack; it's no-name, made-in-china, but it holds this gear like it was designed for it. If you want to swap out the case for the backpack, it could save you some money on shipping. I can't just include the backpack AND the case because the shipping charges are by SIZE more than weight and the backpack is almost the size of the case and not very smushable. If the winning bidder really wants both, we can work something out.

As with all of my auctions, any cat hair you happen to receive by mistake is yours, free of charge!

It depends. If no one is interested, i.e.; no one is bidding, I'll have to assume that I want it more than anyone else does, so I'll just end it without selling, pack it into the backpack, and take it with me. I'm not going to post an end time and get a bunch of $600 bids 1 second before the deadline. So, I guess a couple more rules are necessary.

This is a reserve auction. If bidding doesn't meet the reserve, the item doesn't sell.
The reserve is not $600.
Bids after the opening bid must be in increments of $50 ($600, $650, $700...).
If there is active bidding, and it has met the reserve, I will post an end time when it seems like the bidding is slowing, to give people time to consider a final bid.
Once the auction ends, the item will be considered Pending Sale until payment is received.
High bidder will have 24 hours from auction end in which to pay via PayPal.
If the high bidder reneges, the second highest bidder will be offered the chance to purchase, providing that their bid also met the reserve.

But - I like it when the challenge involves more rules.
Since nothing can be so simple as to just state a price, “I guess a couple more rules are necessary.“ So here’s another.

I’ll bid but I won’t send you my bid right away. I’m sending my bid to fellow bidder Munky above, or to another member secretly via Pm. And you have to guess what is my bid (which of course will be higher than this 1st published bid of $600.00). When I’ve written here I’ve “bid” and you reply here with a guess and you guess my bid correctly within a $15 range, then you‘ll have my bid submitted BUT it’ll also be increased by $25 meaning it’s even higher for you and the auction.

In case it isn't clear yet, auctions are rare here. I can't off hand think of another one that didn't involve raising money for a charitable cause.

I can see why. But, I don't understand the attitude. Have these people never heard of eBay? I'm just trying to avoid the usual tedious and time-consuming route of pricing it, doesn't sell, drop price, doesn't sell, drop price... ad nauseum.

you could definitely get a bit more parting it out provided you find a buyer for each piece.

absolutely ebay is annoying but you will get top $ there. i have gotten 50% more than my forum asking prices for items that never sold on the forum. auction will often bring more than BIN as the bidding heats up

This has been interesting to watch so far. The only “attitude” I see is one person, Rrrgc, trying to set up some arcane auction rules that I have read three or four times but still don’t feel like I understand. Munky seems like he is raring to go on this thing, and Matt’s comment is factually accurate.
When I want to sell some something here (which is, I admit, infrequent) I use eBay completed auctions to get a good idea of
the average sale price of similar items and then knock off 10-15% (what eBay would cost me) and proceed to have an enjoyable transaction with a fellow member. I agree, it’s a real drag to over price an item and then knock $ off week after week until someone finally bites. I think items fairly priced from the get go usually sell pretty quickly.
In any case, good luck with your auction. That’s a great looking kit that will serve someone well.

If the OP would like to try an auction again, go ahead. But the approach isn't common here, so I'd be surprised to see it succeed. If instead the OP would prefer to use the sales format that tends to be more frequently successful on Photrio, I might also make the following suggestion - load the photos as thumbnails rather than full size images. Accessing this thread (or any other thread with lots of large photos in a single post) on a cel phone is probably a PITA.
