RB is a fine camera for sure. I was out doing some moon shots last night with mine and I always love the "feel" of the camera.

I just love my RB67. It might be big and heavy, but that doesn't bother me. It gives great images.

I believe they are still being made; you can still buy one new, at any rate. But used ones are so inexpensive right now it would be hard to justify.

And yes, I love mine, although I hope I never have to fend off the undead with it!

I sold mine in order to make the move to LF a bit easier, but if I could have gotten by without selling it, I most certainly would have-----I miss it.

I've been looking at rb67s and rz67s on eBay lately. Is the only real advantage of the rz that it can do autoexposures with the autoexposure prism?

There's just more of it to love, as the Bishop said to the rubenesque show girl.

Some say they are not made any more.

If you look on the review sites, they list the RB67 SD as no longer made. Yes, they are listed on the Mamiya web site, but that might be a back log. The best thing about the digital revolution is that it made used cameras like the RB67's cheap enough for the average joe to buy one. I have the catalog from B&H and they are listed at $2000+. I figured I would never be able to afford one. Now I have two. With my 58 year old eyes, looking at that big view finder (WL) is so much better than trying to squint through my 35mm, that I figure if the day comes where I have to sell some cameras, the 35mm will probably be the first to go. Here is a funny thing, I take my film to Wal-Mart and the price to develop two rolls of 120 (or twenty pics total) is much cheaper than one 24 exposure of 35mm. I don't understand that. Ric.

I did the same. I bought a m645 as a medium format replacement, but it's not quite the same. The rb was my first medium format camera. I'll probably end up with another one at some point.

Well, there are several (mostly minor) advantages. The film advance/cocking is single stroke, with one lever. The shutter is controlled electronically and the information is shared to the back, so you can more easily use that technology that we don't like to talk about. The rz can take the rb lenses, so from that point of view it is at least as good, optically. And the main advantages of the rz.... these are the major ones in my opinion... the 50mm uld and the 110/2.8. Sweet, sweet lenses.

On the flip side, the rz cannot take the 6x8 back (likely without extensive mods), the body is somewhat less sturdy, and the rz is battery dependent, notwithstanding mechanical override speed or working with an rb lens.

Weight is about equal, handling is virtually identical.

ive just bought 2 of fleabay the first was a 2am special too tiered between christmas and new year (note to self stop looking at ebay early in the morning) it was cheap described as not working with backs also described as not working and metered chimney prism but no lens so in for a penny in for a pound as they say up comes a pro sd with 127mm also cheap and i now have 2 have run some film through every thing all works ok (except the interlock on the dark slide - i can fire the camera with the dark slide in and a blank roll of film later wont do that again) now i have a 90mm and i am amazed how close i can get to things there are lots of flowers that suddenly look like possible targets now to practice my flash technique

I was looking at an RZ auction on eBay that had some excellent, detailed pictures, and I noticed that the flash shoe has some extra contacts on it besides the usual one in the center. Does the camera have through the lens flash capabilities with a dedicated flash?

I believe the only flashes that can sync to the RZ are the ones made by mamiya. Those are the only ones mentioned in the RZ manual, anyway, and if I remember, it doesn't offer any kind of TTL metering function, it merely tells you when the flash is charged.

I only have an RB but I'm sure the RZ can sync to any strobe with a PC connection, since there is such a connection on each lens. I know the RZ works with Metz flashes.

I hope all you RB67 lovers have steered me right. I sold my Bronica SQ-Am 6x6 kit a while back and got a nice RF645 so I would have a truly compact MF carry camera. I really like this sweet little RF645 and carry it a LOT. But I continued to miss shooting full size MF negatives, so I just bought a complete RB67 Pro-S kit, including body, 90mm C lens, Mamiya 2x teleconverter, 120 back, metered prism finder, original WLF, a big bellows lens shade, polaroid back & adapter, trigger grip, cable release, a dozen decent quality 77mm filters, and a nice Pelican case. All in excellent condition, tested and guaranteed 100% working, for just over $500 -- which seems like a pretty decent deal to me if it all pans out as advertised (don't have it yet). Never held one in my hands, but it appears the RB67 is even bigger and heavier than my SQ-Am (which was no slacker in the weight department at six pounds ready to shoot, plus a big tripod). But if the RB67 is as nice a camera as most users say, I can deal with the size and weight in exchange for 6x7 and 6x8 negatives. Anyway, I found that a motorized full size MF camera is not that practical in actual use, merely adding extra batteries, complexity, weight, and noise. Besides, this RB67 can't be much harder to carry around than my Super Speed Graphic kit with three lenses, filters, meters, and a dozen film holders.

My RB67, with one lens & back does feel to weight more then my Speed Graphic with a lens. But it far makes up for it by not needing all the film holders. 100 exposures of 220 film fits neatly into one coat pocket. Can even keep a second back in there as well in case I want color/black & white options.

17 Grafmatics or 50 double sided holders? Not so much.
