bulk film vending machine.

Yeah, sure. One in Tokyo, one each in New York and Los Angeles, one in London. Paris? Rome? Probably not enough market there for the investment...

A man can dream... The idea of moving the confectioning to the point of sale is a pretty wild one but it kinda works for fountain drinks, why not film 😀

Yea, I was looking at this loader a while ago and the price is crazy considering spooling off 100 ft is not that difficult for the semi-competent. The Flux35 is interesting at that price point. I wonder if Midwest film uses their bulk loader for the rolls they sell...I would go with the Reflx Lab for commercial applications...having bulk loaded for past 20 years I can say that one can never get 36 frames by counting how many times you turn the knob...alwys a little more or less.

The Watson/Western type loaders with a clicker do a bit better; it's driven by the sprockets, so one click per frame is pretty reliable if you actually get the film on the teeth. Of course, you have to allow a few extra clicks for the exposed tail and the leader -- commercial films have frames 0 and 00 before 1 (which is why many half frame cameras can get close to 80 frames on a roll). When I load in my clicking loaders, I allow 38 clicks and then leave some leader out.

Does anyone here have experience with the Flux35? It looks a little flimsy in the photos, but that's totally subjective and possibly totally wrong.

I use a movie film winder and 100' spools to spool down 400' rolls when I do it. It only takes a maybe ten? minutes that way to disperse the entire 400'. Super quick. Then I put 3 in the freezer and one in the Watson bulk loader I have. Never tried the Bobinquick but I have some others as well. I suppose if I felt like wasting $900 I would buy that contraption, but that is a lot of cheddar...

I agree, it makes financial sense over time. So does filling a retirement account, but if you have to choose between rent and food after putting money where you can't get it back without a penalty, it's less attractive...

In my case, paying out ~$1400 (for the loader and a 400' roll of Ektachrome or Vision3) is much harder to swallow than paying $20 a roll for Ektachrome when I'll only shoot a couple rolls a year. Now, if I had the film and loader, I'm sure I'd shoot more, but then I'd spend money on chemicals...
Well I am not that reckless with money to get in to e6 chemicals..
And yes the idea is to shoot more film.
Or to maybe not have to buy for a while..

Yep but you have to do it 4 times.

Someone should really slap together a bulk film vending machine.

Maybe for a few extra credits it would even confection it to your preferred format.

Don’t give me crazy ideas.

Have not had a problem with counting and bobbin quick.
