Raw chemical suppliers in the UK ?

Is there any companies in the UK that are supplying raw chemicals that can be used for B&W home made developing formulas,I know there are a couple of good USA ones and as anybody here in the UK used the US ones at all.........I need to exercise my brain and a bit of B&W chemistry appeals to me,quite fancy making some Pyrocrat HD up if truth be told.

Not ideal. they used to sell pyrocatechol in smaller quantities than presently listed here.
There is an Italian seller on ebay.uk lists small amounts of pyrocatechol.

apart from silverprint. you can try process supplies although they seem to list fewer raW chemicals every time I look at their site.
but do also check out Wet Plate Supplies. they have a wide range, better even than silverprint, and their sHipping charges much lower than importing from Germany.
remember also that suppliers based in euro zone are even less attractive now that the pound has crashed against the euro so badly.

The EU regulations on selling chemicals to individuals and on sending them through the post are ever tightening.

I am lucky enough to work in a school laboratory and have access to everything including stuff now banned for mere mortals (potassium dichromate, for example). But I have looked at buying from elsewhere in case my employers ever remove their generosity towards me using small quantities for photography....and Silverprint do seem to be the best.

The best in that they still stock the chemicals that retailers are permitted to sell to ordinary members of the public. Due to increasing regulations on what can be sold, how it can be transported and so on...some retailers have stopped.

As I said, WetPlate Supplies have all that Silverprint have, and more.

Most of the "unobtainable" ones are easily obtained, even by private individuals. I have no problems getting dichromate for instance. One simply has to exercise one's google-fu

Agree with pdeeh. I have also found some useful chemicals from Oxfordchemserve but the last time i enquired I got no response. I have also purchased things items like Metol and Ammonium Thiocyanate and others at a good price from Ebay suppliers in Poland, though they seem to come and go and now the exchange rate is not so attractive. Oh, one time I found another site in the UK and was browsing what they have when a message popped on my screen saying 'due to suspicious activity your IP has been blocked' ! I was waiting for a knock on my door MI5.

Thank you people very helpful........ WetPlate Supplies and Silverprint are what I need and I am very impressed by Wetplate supplies range of chemicals and they have a special one that I could only locate in the USA.. So thanks again.
