Is the 35mm f1.8 and f2 usually hard to come by?

Keh.com has a 35mm f1.8 for what looks like a decent price but I can't afford one at the moment.

According to Peter Kitchingman in his book on Canon rangefinder lenses, Canon made about 15,000 of the 35/1.8 lenses and about 35,000 of the 35.2.0 variety. Not a lot by today's standard, but a respectable amount for the 1950's.

Both of these lenses pop up over on RFF every so often. There's a 35/1.8 on RFF right now for $375.00 USD.

The Voigtlander 35/2.5 LTM lens is easier to find and is quite good.

I use Nikon LTM lenses on my Canon;-)
