Good afternoon all,

I need to set my C41 home processing workflow and i plan to use 3 paterson developing tanks in a darkroom. Instead of refilling a single tank with the 3 baths, I want to dedicate a tank for each bath and simply switch the reels from tank to tank.

Is there anybody that could help me to achieve my workflow, knowing that Paterson client service seems to read their emails once in a year ?

Here what's I found :

TETENAL C41 KIT :
2.5 L. for 40 rolls (120 or 135)
equivalent for 750ml. : 8 films (120 or 135)

On Paterson website, I read that to process
1 roll of 135 it needs 290ml.
2 rolls of 135 it needs 500ml.

MY WORKFLOW

- Prepare 750ml solutions of C41 Tetenal kit
- Use the following combinations until i reach the 8th film
  • 3 rolls of 135 film
  • 2 rolls of 120 film (on 1 reel each)
  • 1 roll of 135 + 1 roll of 120

So I have two questions :
Do you think that 750ml will be enough to cover each of the 3 combinations described above ?
Is the 3x135 Paterson tank appropriate ?

I really hope that you can help me with that

Regards

Okay, I received an answer by Paterson and i put it there in case of someone is interested :

TETENAL C41 KIT :
2.5 L. for 40 rolls (120 or 135)
equivalent for 1L. : 16 films (120 or 135)

Paterso
1 roll of 135 it needs 300ml.
2 rolls of 135 it needs 500ml.

MY CORRECT WORKFLOW

- Prepare 1L solutions of C41 Tetenal kit
- Use the following combinations until i reach the 16th film and renew chemistry for the next batch of 16 films.
  • 3 rolls of 135 film ((900ml)
  • 2 rolls of 120 film (on 1 reel each / 1L.)
  • 1 roll of 135 + 1 roll of 120 (800ml)

Dear Akzidenz,

While I doubt I will copy you, it would be interesting to hear if you decide that moving the film between tanks is easier than the conventional method. Please post after a sufficient time.

Good luck,

Hello Neil,
I'll surely do that but i need some time to get all that material. P

Please consider that this would not be a copy of my method but the one of a REALLY inspiring and experienced photographer whose runs the biggest film photography store in Paris, France where I live.
I know this is not a guarantee of success but nevertheless, I'm ready to try this workflow since she were so categorical about it.

I'll put some unedited scans here in couple of months and let you know if it's worth the effort.

Regards
