I have been using Pyro developers since the 80's and every one I have used has had a combination of either Pyrogallol or Pyrocatechol with some other developer as well.
PMK with metol
Kodak D-7 with metol
Pyrocat HD with phenidone
etc. etc.
I was contemplating some fooling around with some Pyro only formulas and wanted to know what to expect beyond just a loss of shadow speed?
My thoughts for developer recipes to try (all for sheet film/tray processing with maybe a roll or two of 120 for kicks in a tank) were:
Kodak D-1/ABC (of course)
Kodak SD-1
Maybe D-1/ABC with Pyrocatechol substituted for the Pyrogallol?
Any other recipes people can think of that might be fun? Properties of those listed and others? I don't expect anything way way better/different than my standard Pyrocat and I am sure I will find a bunch of the well know negative properties - I was wondering about peoples experience positive properties, if any of the single developer recipes?
Thanks
