I got an Analyser Pro off 'the bay'. It seems to work with my LPL 4x5 enlarger. It came without a metering probe however, so I purchased a new one to use the analyser functions of it. I got it today and just to try it all out I (with room lights on) powered it all on, and hit the focus switch on the timer. The enlarger bulb lights up, but with the sensor attached it quickly switches to display "L o9". After that, I can't do anything. The cancel button doesn't work, I can't turn off the bulb, none of the buttons seem responsive. If I turn off the unit and turn it back on I can start again, but same results. It DOES however work normally without the probe attached.

This was absolutely my first time with this unit so it's very possible I'm doing something wrong. Can anyone tell me what that may be?

Sounds like you’ve got into ‘log’ mode (densitometer mode). This is usually accessed by pressing focus then holding down the measure button. Same long press on the measure button to exit. Maybe try that?

Hmmm no response. Nothing seems to work except for just pulling the probe jack out of the port. Then it counts down and I can sort of get it to respond, Or just turnning it off and on again.

So you are trying to operate it with room lights on? I have never used one but from what I have heard the probe will only operate and the analyser will only perform correct readings with everything off except the enlarger light

It should just read "HI" if the light is too much. When it got dark (around 4:30 here in Maine now that DST has passed) I tested it in low light, same "L o9" setting. I'm beginning to think there may be a problem with the timer. I contacted Second Hand Darkroom which owns RH Designs. Hopefully they can shed some light on this.

Northeastphotographic I note that you have now moved on to calibration in another thread so I presume that the fault you reported here of a reading of "Lo9" and the probe being apparently inoperable was solved?

Can you say how this was solved?

Thanks

It was solved by returning the faulty unit and purchasing a brand new one. Granted the faulty unit was a used buy of 'the bay.'

Why I bought mine brand new. Unfortunately many Ebay sellers have no idea of how the photo equipment they sell works.
