Picked up a mint 110B online and decided to convert it to 4x5 as a light travel LF camera. I was going to send it out to be done, but had to put the madmoney elsewhere. In the end, I decided to do it myself. Using CAD I designed a new backplate to hold DS holders and 3D printed it. I'm nearly done ... except for the rangefinder. I want to keep it and use it. I know the normal method is to drill out the pins holding the front standard and reset the infinity distance and then screw in new screws to hold it there. However, I remember Dean Jones/razzledog (before he died) mentioning calibrating the RF via adjustment screws, directly. Does anyone know if those adjustment screws are only to line up the RF image correctly or can they also be used to reset the infinity to match the new film plane?

I'd love any all thoughts about this and any anecdotal stuff you might have concerning these conversions. Definitely a new area for me, and my local camera mechanic, as good as he is, doesn't want to even come near the project with a 10 foot pole.

Thoughts?
Thanks!

You need to reset the front standard to infinity focus for the lens you are using, no way around it, then you can calibrate the rangefinder. The calibration for the rangefinder is inside the rangefinder itself on the back of the swinging mirror. It is kind of fiddly to do. When you adjust the screw for the vertical, it screws up the horizontal.

Lymond, I'm currently doing the same conversion and was just about to start on a new back plate...any chance you'd be willing to share your 3D printing files?
