Question about BetterScanning film holders

When using the BetterScanning film holders, is the film sandwiched between two pieces of anti newton glass, or is it just one piece on the upper side of the film? If it's just on the top side, does it hold the film perfectly flat? I'm having trouble with curl, which is affecting my scan focus. Wondering if the BetterScanning wou;d solve my issues.

It's just one piece of glass over top. Just place the film so the curl is up, and then the glass with squish it flat. Usually the curl is such that the emulsion side will need to be down for this to occur. The Epson scanners are designed so that the scan is the right way around when the emulsion side is up, but all you need to do is flip the image left to right or up to down in photoshop later. There is really no other consequence to scanning with the emulsion the "wrong" way around.

Can't say enough good things about the betterscanning holder. It turned scanning from a nightmare to a pleasure for me.

I have wet mounted using one of these holders on a Epson V700, bottom was a piece of plastic thin but strong then the glass - it worked well - you have to find the right height for the holder

Can the best height be flat on the main glass? That's what my V600 came up with when I tested it.

For more than a decade I've scanned my large format and 120 negatives using two pieces of anti-glare picture frame glass from an ordinary glass store. One sheet goes below the negative, and puts the negative at the right height, and the other sheet goes on top to flatten the negative. The frosted side of the glass goes towards the negative and prevents Newton's rings. Cost about 10-bucks.
