Hey gang - anybody up for a photo trip to the Quabbin Reservoir on Sat April 28 or Sun April 29?
Let me know if any of you are interested. And lets hope for a very dry spring!
Don't want that water level to be too high.

Maybe I could finally buy that print...

Bethe and Gene,

Maybe I could meet up with you (Bethe) at the Quabbin to finally buy that print. I could loan Gene the DVD about the 1958 Art Kane "A Great Day In Harlem" photograph, and then beg out of shooting due to my advanced age....(I've shot at the Quabbin with Gene before, he'll march you mercilessly....)

-Bill

If I'm here that weekend, and the weather is ok, I'd be in. I need some shooting!

I'd love to go, Gene. It could be a possibility for the 28th. (5x7 anyone?) I have a "command performance" at school for the 29th.

And advanced age?!! I definitely fall into the category of "Ol' Fartdom!" Ya ain't gonna use that excuse on me.

OK, Gene, you can go ahead while Whitey and I photograph our cars and each other's cameras in the parking lot. Actually, Whitey, is that 5x7 the one I think it is?.....

Bill - you still have two steps to complete for the Initiation. The next step involves a bag of cement, a pair of over-sized shoes, duct-tape, a very long extension cord and a box of Mr. Salty Pretzels. Oh... and I almost forgot, a left-handed skyhook. :surprised:

The secret of the Quabbin initiation is that it *always* involves two more steps. I am still surprised how much bag balm, linoleum and Smith Brothers cough drops were used in that last step....thank God I was able to brain that rabid fish with the 200 mm lens from the Pentax 6x7....

Bill,
I was going to bring that 5x7 and another as well. New lens, old lens. They are amazingly light - even on a forced march.

Hey, I thought Gene only ran us through the woods last time because I had suggested a different gate than he was used to using. You mean he makes people carry big rocks and run every time he takes them in? The car and camera shots sound good to me.

If you go 29 April, that is World Pinhole Day. I think that you would be required to shoot some pinhole photos that day!

OK... executive decision time... let's make it for Saturday April 28th. Is 7:00 am too early for all to meet?

I suppose 7am is best for photography - just expect me to show up with a Dunkin' Donuts "Great One" in hand. Even on workdays, I get up no earlier than 7am (unless there's court or something like an early plane flight).

Where, exactly, are we meeting and can we have directions or a location to put into mapquest?

I will post directions (they are embedded in one of the old Quabbin threads) and will choose a time when everybody chimes in if 7:00 am is too early. I am normally up at 5:30 in the am... but not by choice.

7 means leaving my house about 5:30 to 5:45... uhhhhh, well.... I'll try. Since Bill and I are standing by the car and taking pictures of each other it shouldn't make too much difference if we're late, right?

I am also planning on being there. It will be good to have a planned outing to drag me away from work for a day.

Whitey, could you please bring the pictures that I have been negligent in picking up from you?

Oh, come now, you've gotten up earlier than that to shoot an image or two in the light drizzle ... as I recall. :D

Regards, Art.

I'll be glad to come on the 28th with Whitey, and Whitey, I would be glad to drive. Doubt we could make there by 7, but since we're only going to be photographing our cars, camera and shoes it hardly matters.....

(On vacation, posting this from my mother's house in Pennsylvania.)
