I finally got some Catechol and proceeded to mix a 1l MC version, using the glycerine method. Everything went into the heated glycerine as I would have expected. I poured 300 ml of glycol into my graduated cylinder then the glycerine mixture and then topped it up to 1l with the glycol.
Several hours later I decided to test it and took 200ml of water and put 2ml of Pyrocat-MC and 2ml of the Alkali and in full lighting put in a film strip. I was expecting it to go black whiten a minute or so. It did not. I did a ph test and it was over 10, so that part was good. It dawned on me (doofus moment) that I actually had not stirred the mixture when I combined the glycerine mixture and the glycol. Stuck a stirrer down the Pyrocat-MC bottle and gave it a whirl. Put 2ml of fresh stock into the test and boom....it started to develop.
Here is my question. Did I also have to heat the glycol to get the mixture to blend evenly? Is my stock ok now, as it is?
