Hello,

I was doing some cleaning yesterday and found some Pyrocat-HD in glycol
that I apparantly bought ~1 year ago from Photographic Formulary. The bottle has buckled inside a bit and it has never been opened.
Searching in the archives I see that with glycol the shelf-life of Pyrocat-HD in much more extended compared with the water based one.
Anyone has data points on this?

thanks!
jf

I asked the same question a while ago. According to Sandy King Pyrocat in glycol should last several years. Here's a pointer to the thread:

(there was a url link here which no longer exists)

Ah! I guess I missed that one!
Thanks for the info.

Cheers,

Yes - well one of the problems with computer searches is you have to know the right keyword to search for. From the title of the thread, it isn't obvious that it's about shelf life.

My experience supports a shelf life in years for the Pyrocat A solutions mixed in glycol.

So far I haven't been able to make any developer last more than a year glycol or not.

The bottle always get used up first

Mike, The last time I mixed (2005) some Pyrocat Stock A in Glycol was in 2005. I mixed 2 liters of Pyrocat P and 2 liters of Pyrocat - MC. I'm still working on the first liter of both.

I also have about a half liter of Pyrocat-HD/Glycol Stock A left that I mixed in 2004.
