I tried searching the forums about this topic but there were only a couple of threads that contained a few responses so I thought I'd ask again. I was thinking of trying to push either Tri-X or HP5 to 1600 using Pyrocat or possibly using 3200 TMAX or Delta with the same developer. By nature of its stain, Pyrocat gives a compensating effect so wouldn't this be a desirable trait when using high speed or pushed films that are contrasty by nature? I see most people seem to think it isn't a good combo but I haven't been able to nail down the reason why. Is it grain? I was hoping maybe I'd come across someone who tried it and maybe some examples. If I was to experiment what do you think would be a good guideline regarding dilutions and development times?
