It's probably a character flaw or even some kind of mental aberration but for some strange reason I'm interested in knowing the age and if possible the history of the tools I use.
My camera gear is no different.
I recently bought a used Toyo 45AX with 3 Nikkor lenses. While I know that the AX is still in production and Nikkor lenses fairly recent I still want to know when they were made/sold.
Anyone know of a way to put a reasonably definitive date to a Toyo cameras and Nikkor lenses by serial numbers or cryptic date code?

Haven't tried to contact Toyo, just looking for a reference or listing.
