I Just developed(dektol 1:10) a roll of 400TX and when rinsing I noticed they had a purple shine on them. From previous experiences with T-Max development I thought the film was unsufficiently fixed, so I tried fixing an extra 3mins, while already fixing for 8mins, but the film seemed to get even more purple.
Anyone got any idea's why the film might be purple and/or how to fix this?
hm I wonder, since this is an old emulsion, would it need more then 30mins washing with running water(+-25°C) ??
I have some Hypo Clearing Agent laying around...
Thirty minutes is more than enough. I wash for ten minutes and that's plenty. You've done nothing wrong. Tri-X does have a slight purple tint to the base material that does not wash out. That "re-fix to get the sensitizing dyes out" trick works only with TMax films. It works because most fixers have a good amount of sodium sulfite in them which is what does the job.
