Group Shot

So I had a wonderful time on Saturday meeting some of my fellow APUGers from New England. Too bad the weather wasn't the best, but it definitely was worth attending -- I learned a lot and saw some incredible portfolios.

Here is a group shot I took using a Mamiya RB67, 37mm fisheye, and Polaroid 3000 B&W film:

Dead Link Removed

Here's to many more such meetings and a big thank you to everyone who organized this event. (sorry we had to run back home on Sunday as my daughter had a nasty accident on her skate board and needed mommy's TLC)

Oh, for the record, can someone point out all the names of the attendees shown in the photo?

Thanks for posting this photo, Michael, and thanks to Drew for organizing. It was fun to meet everyone. There were several people there from a local camera club, and rather than try to remember all their names, I will try to id folks I know!

Art is 4th from the left, Mark (who came down from Portland Maine?) is behind Art's shoulder (to the right), Drew is in the back right in the center. Bethe (winger) is the 4th face to the right of Art, and I'm standing next to her. Gene (papagene) is sneaking a peak from behind my head, and Ryuji is next to Gene. Michael (magnachrom) is on the floor to the right down in front.

Those are the names I know! That was a very cool lens, btw, and it was a great day and evening, and thanks for letting my kids hang out with us!

To the left is Rowland Scherman (w/the leica mounted on his enormous tripod) Mark S is an apuger from Cumberland, Maine. I think that is Bill H. from Plymouth in the rear left. The rest are several others whose names I don't want to mention without their ok...who attended because they were very interested in traditional photography and enjoyed being around like-minded people!

Drew - Thank you very much for putting this together!! A very good time Saturday and today... well the weather gods finally did smile on us. Wow, what a glorious day on the dunes of the Cape. I will try to get some rolls developed this week.
The only drawback (other than losing a crappy cable release) was that 495 became a slooow moving parking lot for a hour on the way home.

What an awesome weekend! Thanks Drew for organizing this whole thing.

Regards, Art.

Second the sentiment - great weekend - we need to do another thing like this again - I loved the amount of involvement that we got from the local non-APUG photographers.

Also - thanks to Ilford for their gifts to us as well - I have a new (to me) film to try out now in Delta 3200.

Completely agreed. Thanks Drew for organizing a wonderful event, although I could participate for only one day.

Yeah the gift from Ilford was a real surprise.

Delta 3200 is quite a bit grainier than 400 speed films but less so than TMZ and other fast films of the past. This film is best exposed at EI of 1600 or so and processed in XTOL 1+1 (if I have to pick one from what's already on the market) at 25C/77F... 20C/68F is okay but the processing time will be very long.

What Mass DEP has to say about photographic chemical waste...

http://www.mass.gov/dep/recycle/hazardous/photo.htm

Mass DEP, Bureau of Waste Prevention, Hazardous Waste Management

This is for Cambridge residents but look for similar thing in your city/town.

You can find similar information from manufacturers... For example, Kodak publications J-300, J-410, J-411 cover these topics. (All downloadable from Kodak website in PDF.) However, they do not go into specifics of local regulations.

I agree it was an excellent weekend. The presentation by Ryuji was very useful to me – I’m always interested in new chemistry – and just the general air of curiosity. Enjoyed looking at the portfolios, only wish I could have spent more time doing that and hearing what the photographers had to say.
For what it’s worth, my general time/temp for Delta 3200 is, I shoot at 1600, develop in HC110H at 75 degrees for about 15 minutes, normal agitation.

Thank you, Drew, for making this happen.

Why don't we set a spring date somewhere (Ct?) to show our Cape images taken last week. That will force me to actually make some prints!

Film is developed - I just need a chance to make some prints. Where does everyone want to meet? And when? In May sometime? Here in Springfield... or a more central location?

What about New Haven? Just a thought. Lots of places to photograph too. I'll also offer to host y'all for brunch, lunch, dinner, whatever at my place too.

Regards, Art.

Very late posting on this thread:

http://www.silvergrain.org/g2/v/EP/APUG+NE+Regional/

Click on the image and click on Full Size 3200x1303 to view the picture in larger size. I scanned the neg at 3200 dpi and gave light editing, shrunk the image size and saved in JPEG. The height of the image (on film) is 24mm (short edge) of the standard 35mm format.

You want to save this link if you wish to view the page later, because this album is not linked from anywhere else.

Yes, the camera itself adds the curves to horizontal lines and this is not avoidable with this type of cameras. I think some people hate this and get Fujifilm TX-2 or Hasselblad XPan. I don't mind the distortion.
