Procuring LSD

OK, now that I have got your attention, I am interested in buying light shaping diffusers[1], not the acidic Swiss invention.

I am currently looking into diffusion options for an enlarger conversion. I have been pointed towards light shaping diffusers such as those made by e.g. Luminit. While these products exist, I have found no sources selling to private customers. Mostly I would have to contact their sales department (e.g. as a qualified customer - whatever that means, guess not me ) and I do not have high hopes that an amateur building one-offs will be able to buy that way.

Does any body kniow a source for such diffusers, preferrably in sheet form, selling to private customers?

I'm not sure how big you need this, but eBay usually has enlarger light boxes sold separately when people part out enlargers. The old Federal enlargers have both condenser and diffuser models. I had one that arrived w/ a cracked diffuser and was able to pick one up cheaply there. The Federals print up to 6x9 so the diffusers are big enough to do those negs.

If it were me, I'd get parts off an old enlarger because you know they're made for photography, vs something new like in your link, that may or may not be suitable for darkroom photography.

I am converting a Krokus Color 3 to LED illumination. The enlarger previously used opal bulbs, which provide a good degree of diffusion, and a condenser. With just the LEDs, I can see all sorts of dirt and weird artefacts projected onto the base plate. Hence I am adding some diffusion in the filter carrier, just above the condenser. Currently I am using same tracing paper which I had lying around the house.

This works, but I am losing a very significant bit of light because of that tracing paper. Therefore I am looking into alternatives that offer higher transmission into a usable direction. I would like to try some LSD as they are the materials that hold the most promise for a good degree of diffusion coupled with high transmission.

Why would you want light shaping diffusers? How would you calculate your needs? If you just want even light Amazon has Light Table Plexiglass in 12x12 squares in 3 levels of diffusion. Flashed Opal Glass is good but more difficult to shape.

Diffusion eats light. Tungsten bulbs put out a lot of IR heat and upping the wattage makes it worse. Switching to LEDs solves that. That's what I did.
