I just got an ATL1000 automatic processor and it's awesome. The problem is that reclaiming chemistry is not easy with this machine (at least without the chemistry reclaiming attachment which I don't have) and I'm wasting a lot of chemistry as at the 1+9 dilution, the capacity of the chemistry is much higher then the film I'm developing in one shot.

The same goes for the fixer, but I don't know what can be done about that.

If you wanna save some money on fixer, buy one of those big cubes of C-41 fixer from B&H or elsewhere. It'll cost a bit to ship, but you use it half strength diluted with water 1+1 and it works fabulously well for B&W or C-41. It's the only fixer I keep on hand.

A good place to start if you're going to dilute the sprint developer by half is to multiply your dev times by 1.4 and go from there.

sprint fix is always 1:9 or 2:8 no getting around that .. and the other stuff is 1:9
email sprint, they might be able to help .....

if i were to use any non-crazy developer that i use
it would be the sprint stuff. it is the best ! i have been
using their fix since i developed my first roll of film ... in 1981 ...

good luck !

john

C41 fix is devastatingly cheap. you can dilute developer further (1:10 sprint = 1:1 D76, so if you use 1:30 (3:27 if you're technical) that's 1:3 ish D76) if you want. Times are on massive development chart. You could try rodinal or R09 I guess it's called now.

i would contact sprint before you dilute their developer even more they the suggest
sprint, while it is suggested to be a d76-metol free clone is not d76.
email sprint, they write back and their tech-guy is a regular here on apug ...

john
ps they answer the phone too
