I am looking for some advice and help. I recently purchased a Beseler computerized colorhead on Ebay. When I hooked it up, the fan came on but no light. I replaced the bulb and still the same problem. I purchased it because I had one in the past and loved it, and stupidly got rid of it. Does anyone know what the problem is or did I just buy an expensive paperweight?
Thanks,
Nick

Hard to tell. Sometimes you just need to clean up contacts. I use the Beseler Universal 45 dichro heads have separate controllers for color and variable contrast. These things are buggy by nature. Sometimes it's dirty contacts on the bulbs.

The computerized heads with the D.A.T.A modules are also prone to problems.

And the the original Beseler Dichro heads that have bad opto couplers.

Such great enlargers but only reliable OEM light source is the condenser head.

Yea, the white light lever can be a real gotcha. Simple solution though (move the lever!).
I don’t know which head you have there were several “computerized” color heads Beseler made. Mine sometimes gets wonky and won’t turn on the lamp. So I open up the top of the head and unplug and plug each of the three circuit boards a couple of times and it all comes back to life (dirty contacts). It’s worked every time for years, YMMV!
