Hello, so recently I got a Nikon FE that was working okay, but after a few weeks of use something went wrong, the meter is crazy. For example if I set my shutter speed to 1/60, it will show i am at 1/250 on the focusing screen, so I can't rely on the meter, is there any way to fix this?

Thank you.

Which indicator in the viewfinder are you looking at, black or green?

Thanks... I was being Socratic.

To be more direct... OP, have you read and understand the manual? It’s available from several sites online.

If I’m wrong, please forgive me and provide more detail on what you mean by “worked okay” and what you did different. I’m assuming you used it in “A” in the past.

No, I've never used it in A, what I mean is that the shutter speed i set in the dial doesn't match the shutter speed i get in the finder (green)
So if i set my shutter speed dial to 1/15 the green line on the finder will show I'm on 1/60 for some reason.

Which is showing the speed that the shutter is actually operating?

But, no matter, if that’s the case something is broken. I believe it is a mechanical connection, possibly via a cord... check out the repair manual, especially the fault finding section in the back:

Your welcome, but the person who really needs to be thanked is the person who posted the manual for us to access!

In that case if you set the shutter speed at 1/500 the needle will be at A. Try to turn the shutter speed all the way to A then turn it back and see if it fixes the problem.

Is the compensation dial set to -2?

As I think about it that would adjust the meter and not the shutter speed.
