I have inherited a wonderful Nikon F2 Photomic (what a wonderful camera) along with an MD3 Motor Drive. Alas no instructions. Figuring out the controls on the camera was a breeze. But having problems with the motor drive. Loaded fresh batteries - attached to the camera and all I get get is a constant whirring sound and will not fire. Only way to get it to stop is to set the frame counter to zero.

I suspect I am doing something wrong - can anyone help

Thanks

Mike

Have you removed the motor drive/film back opening cap? If it's in place it won't allow the motor to engage.

The MD-3 (unlike the MD-1 and MD-2) doesn't have a rewind feature (it was the "budget" motor drive for the F2), so you don't need to remove the door opening cap.

These drives have nylon drive gears that are known to break. Try contacting Sover Wong (http://www.geocities.com/sover_wong/Nikon_F2_Repair_Service.html) to see if that might be the problem.

Here is an online instruction manual.

I hope this is of some assistance.

Have a nice day, and good luck to you,

Hi, my MD3 not stopping rewind. Only stop when I put the counter in zero (in MD3). What's the problem? How can I solve that?
Thanks,
Paulo
