hey,

So I borrowed a camera today, checked it out and it seemed ok except for the dark slide wouldn't come out with the back attached to the camera. Put some batteries in and got an error message when trying to shoot, either err 01 or no fb would come up. The dark slide would come out when manually depressing the little metal button with the fil. Back removed. Put it back on without the dark slide to see If it would shoot then and now the dark slide won't go back in and the back won't detach!

Still doesn't shoot either, how do I get the back off now ? Can I bypass whatever is locking it up?

Problem solved, battery related issue. Is this one of the worst cameras ever? I had one before and sold it because of such issues

I've heard the AFI and AFIII are better than the AFII. Not sure about the AFD series.

No issues with the AFD3 here, neither with the HM401 back or the newer HM402 back. Electronics requires power. If my battery runs low, I start to behave funny too. If you decide to get an AFDx yourself, then the Ejji rechargeable Lithium is a good investment.
